Markdownee Playground

Enter a URL on the homepage, choose output and extraction settings, then select Crawl URL. The server fetches and extracts one page; copy or download its result. A setting's ? explains its purpose and supported interfaces.

Choose an operation

  • Crawl configures collection and storage. The online preview processes one page; generated commands can follow links.
  • Fetch extracts one URL directly, without a stored crawl.
  • Export prepares files from existing local storage or a completed Apify run.
  • Purge prepares commands that delete local storage.

Under What to do:, Crawl offers npm CLI/library, Python library, and Apify CLI/API examples. Fetch offers npm CLI/library and Python. Export offers npm and Apify examples; Purge offers npm CLI/library. Copy the generated example and follow its linked package guide for setup. Python examples identify unsupported settings.

For npm-library crawls, a blank Storage directory keeps result records in memory. Set a directory when a later export should read persisted results. Generated examples report exhausted page failures as well as successes.

Outputs and images

Select formats independently:

  • Plain text keeps text without HTML markup.
  • Markdown represents headings, lists, links, and formatting as text.
  • HTML uses readable source formatting.
  • Minified HTML uses compact source formatting.

Original raw HTML adds the captured input before extraction. Output layout is separate: Minimal returns body text and HTML fragments; Standard adds ordinary metadata/front matter and complete HTML; Enhanced adds extended metadata and crawl information. Missing optional metadata is omitted.

Fetch image downloading requires npm CLI, file output, and Markdown, HTML, or Minified HTML. Saved images go beside the output in <output-stem>.assets/. The preview and return-only library calls cannot save images.

Markdown discovery applies to generated commands and code, not the hosted preview. It can make additional requests for an origin-published Markdown source. See CLI Help for its modes and Apify Help for hosted runs. The Help hub links to installation and library references.
